Congratulations to Newly Elected Trustee Regina Harris
Congratulations to Regina Harris who was elected to Richardson ISD school board during the Nov. 5 election; the first under the district's new majority single-member district electoral system. Trustee Harris represents District 4, an area that includes the historic Hamilton Park. Richardson ISD Trustees are elected for 3-year terms. For more information, please visit their website.
Visit to J.J. Pearce
Education is the cornerstone of our community and that is why it is important that our school system possesses what it needs. This month I had the opportunity to tour the wonderful halls of J.J. Pearce High School. Thank you to Principal Evans for the open and ongoing discussion of ways our offices can work to provide students with
the best education possible. See you next week Lloyd V. Berkner High School!
On December 16th, I had the pleasure of speaking to a group of parents that participated in a 9-week program known as Parents Advocating for Student Excellence (P.A.S.E.). This program provides parents the tools they need to positively impact their child's education.
Thank you to The Concilio, the organization responsible for bringing the program to RISD Academy. Together we can help our parents through further community engagement.
Richardson Fire Headquarters Visit
Thank you Fire Chief Poovey, for taking the time to discuss the importance of public safety. Hearing first-hand what is needed to serve our ever-growing community, provides me with what I need to advocate for HD 102. I look forward to working together to ensure our first responders don't go unheard! For Home Safety Tips, please visit their website. Congratulations Chief Poovey for your recent grand opening of the new Richardson Fire Headquarters!!
Richardson Christmas Parade
This holiday season, I had the pleasure of participating in the 2019 Richardson Christmas Parade. Every community event is a blessing that provides an opportunity for us to come together!
I am excited to see what 2020 holds for our community and our state. Together we are stronger!
HD 102 Christmas Ornament
Every year, the Capitol sends out an ornament for each district to decorate and return to be hung on the House Chamber's Christmas tree. This season I wanted our ornament to reflect HD 102 through the eyes of one of our high school students. The honor went to Ms. Hannah Byers, a student at Richardson High School. Thank you, Hannah, for our beautiful ornament and your amazing work!

Every month, our Community Outreach Steering Committee organizes and executes a "Voter Engagement Drive"-- an amazing project that takes our volunteers throughout the district to encourage everyone to make sure they are up to date on their voter registration. Each volunteer provides anyone they meet the opportunity to ask questions about upcoming elections, local governmental news, or community resources. In the end, our mission is to provide everyone with the knowledge they need to make their voices count.
I am so lucky to work with the best people in Texas! Thank you for all of your hard work!
